Personal Statement Guidance

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do I apply for university?

Every student who is applying to a UK based university must register with UCAS. You can do this by visiting the UCAS website. Every student at Emperor College receives detailed guidance on completing the application details and preparing the personal statement. We will provide an academic reference which supports your application.

What is a personal statement?

To support your application, you have to write a statement of 4000 characters or 47 lines.  Emperor College provides one to one support on writing personal statements and ensures that every student understands how to present the most enthusiastic and engaging version of themselves.  You can find out more about personal statements by visiting the UCAS website.

How do I know which university to apply for?

Your chosen progression route will determine which universities you choose.  The website, Informed Choices, provides some useful information about progression routes including which universities to consider.  You can also look at the Complete University Rankings to give you an idea of where to research.

When is the deadline?

There are two main deadlines to focus on for UCAS.  The October deadline is the deadline for Oxford and Cambridge applications.  The January deadline is the main application deadline.  We encourage all students to complete their applications as early as possible so that they ensure they meet these deadlines.

How much does it cost?

To apply to more than one university, there is a fee of £27.50.

There are no additional charges for a standard application.
